Men, Cancer and HPV: Living with a cancer caused by HPV: The experience of men.

28 Aug 2026

Globally, at least 180,000 men a year are diagnosed with a cancer caused by HPV. But their personal stories are seldom heard. This webinar goes beyond the scientific and medical evidence to hear and learn from men whose lives have been directly affected by an HPV cancer including Patrick Howard (who has had penile cancer), Jason Mendelsohn (throat cancer) and Kevin Case (anal cancer).

Sharing menu2019s lived experience helps to challenge the stigma often associated with HPV cancers, highlights that men as well as women can be affected, and makes the case for more effective prevention through gender-neutral vaccination programmes. It can also encourage boys and their parents/carers to opt for vaccination, men with cancer symptoms to seek help, and health services to do more to meet menu2019s specific needs.
